What a week! Every day was stuffed with too much stuff to do and so it happened that I was able to meet Alice two times for pictures and talks. She is an inspiring person with a interesting views and a unique Look, head over to her Blog if you want to see more :)
I just came back home from the Voo Store in Berlin, where we left winter clothing for charity. A friend of mine took the event pictures and we had the pleasure to contribute coats and sweaters to the 800 KG of winter clothing that were collected for homeless and refugees. Talking about coats and winter clothing, I finally got to the point in my life, where I must admit that all the thermo layers below my clothes are not enough. The Selected Femme Coat is cuddly warm and insanely beautiful, but still I think about a down vest below. I might get a cheap underlay to keep me even warmer - in that invisible way, so I can keep on wearing thinner coats. How do you keep warm these days?

Mind: Why Blogging can be a pain in the ass and how to avoid frustration

$
0
0

I know, I am sometimes not so good with words, but what I definitely know is that there are ways to destroy every little fun of (hobby) blogging, when you wake up once with crazy high expectations or just see all those instagrammers living "the" live. Here is a little guide for keeping the fun in the blogging and not getting crazy:

1. Expectations vs. Reality
In 2017, I will reach 100.000 Followers on Instagram and the Brands will finally take me serious and I´ll get a car endorsed. Sounds crazy? Because its not happening. This is an expectation that depends on so many factors, that I simply cannot control it. I cannot tell if Instagram will still exist, nor will be cool by 2017 (do you remember myspace?) And also I cannot tell if any Brand will still endorse Bloggers. However, I cannot expect anything I cannot control 100% - and its okay! I don't want to see myself putting up a big plan to gain more followers, I want to enjoy what I do and if something nice, such as an Event, a Sponsorship or a Photoshoot happens, it will be. No need to set the bar irrationally high! If you enjoy what you do, your followers/and Brands will feel that.

2. Compare yourself to...
Anybody who has a similar style/Layout/comes from the same city or has the same hair color? I´ve been there, done that - "she doesn't even look pretty ugh..." and thoughts like that were ugly and poisoned everything I´ve done. Envy is not the right thing to do, if you want to lead a happy life overall. I know, you see those pictures on Instagram, you talk to them on Events or just see them on the streets - people who do it "better" than you. Well, I can remember one Girl (me) got her heart terribly broken but posted pictures from amazing holidays, capturing "paradise" and not even feeling good while doing it. So do not compare yourself to anybody, as long as you don't know all hard facts about their lives.

3. Giving up on...
Anything you liked, because your followers don't like it. What a shame to measure your talents on a post, a picture or a number. Its not - If you really enjoy cooking but your followers prefer your outfit posts, don't stop sharing your recipes. A followership develops over a time, not within days. Be patient, deliver quality content and serve the needs that you have as well as those of your followers. Listen, answer, be a part of the community.

DIY: easy Minimal Gift wrapping

Are you untalented and all your gifts look like they were unpacked a few times and wrapped back again? Well mine used to look like trashy stuff with no love added, before I discovered the easy way: Get your hands on envelopes and just personalize them. Read the Tutorial below:

So you can get any big envelopes you want - mine are from HAY (I have got them in an outlet in Copenhagen for 50 Cents/5 pieces), some nice tape, and ink! - the fun part is, there are no rules. I just loved dalmatian patterns in gold and black and sprinkled them all over the envelopes and let it dry and did not use more than one color at once for the minimal, chic flair. Add some tape in any shape you like and close it. Probably the easiest way to get some personalized envelopes that always look good. Merry packaging you all!

When it feels like Autumn, but its Winter - the Weather in Germany is crazy at the moment, we will reach about 16°C this week. I don't know if I should be happy about it or if its just scarry, how it used to be pretty cold in winter. When I was a child, we had the whole the program from sliding on snow on christmas and from time to time even enough to build a snowman. There are no such things now - last winter we were happy about two snowy days - now I am standing in the sun, wearing SPF 30. In the camel jacket, I wore in summer as well - find the mistake.
Below I wear a thick cotton T-shirt by Funktion Schnitt. Its a sustainable Brand selling wonderful basics, fair produced and with organic textiles. Its probably one of my favorite pieces at the moment, the mock neck just fits very well and the shape suits perfectly. I would recommend to you guys to use one size up. I also plan on posting about basics soon. I hope your monday is not to stressful and you don't have to shop the last christmaspresents ;)

OUTFIT: Festive Rosegold on Christmas

I knew I had to do this - a festive Outfit. So I did, like everyone. The perfect outfit for the boring office party to the less boring family meeting. Never too posh, not sexy at all and with some nice details. I like it! Especially because I can layer it with my favorite "hanging out of my clothes shirt". Pure love for this one! I am also surprised that its so easy to layer two blouses, without any visibility. This rosegold treasure is from the current weekday sale, for 16€ only instead of 65€ and fits perfectly with my favorite bag. (which I wear on every outfit post atm, I am sorry for the lack of creativity.) If you struggle to find something to wear, always go with one key piece and dress down the rest. I don't know why people are so worried about fitting in at office christmas parties or family meetings, but sometimes its just the best to love your outfit yourself and don't care about the rest. Merry christmas to you guys! See you on the 25th, when I´m already so bored that I prepare a "best of 2015 outfits" ;D

Recap, 2015: looks better (means, less embarrassing) than in 2014 and I will dress up less in 2016. Less color, less dresses, more unisex and more comfy. This year was, besides of what I wore, the most adventurous year so far in my life. I did travel seven times, the first time all by myself for a longer period with a backpack and a camera only, quit a job that destroyed me and found a cause to work for. I helped many strangers, found friends and bounded closer with the few ones I have. I found love and a family. Can all that be seen in my outfits? I´m not sure. I can only tell: I feel better, with less accessory, less makeup and less clothes on the rack. I am incredibly grateful, that you all stayed for so long now, following the stories and commenting, e-mailing, reading and reacting. I am looking forward to share even better content with you next year. Thank you.

INSPRATION: 3 ways not to glitter on New year´s eve

Girl, I feel you: Your Partner just dragged you out of your bed, forced you to quit netflix and you don't feel like be the center of attention, so you just put on what you wore yesterday. Besides the shoes - You got those amazing heels that you keep in a box, just in case you decide to add a little something to your outfit. Since he tells you, you could look happier infront of his working colleagues, you decide to go for the darkest lipstick shade you´ve got. So they really see the contour of your face saying "I want netflix and chill" - But at least you look minimalistic sophisticated on NYE and not like Boy George.

Take it easy, cowgirl. You will have a great night at a friends place, wearing comfy clothes but will kill it with your dance-able shoes. Your Make up is down to earth, yet you're clever enough to wear a lipliner instead of lipstick to stay matte and perfectly forever on your lips, no matter how many beer bottles you opened with your teeth. You are also clever enough to bring a balm for the late hours, its cold and the skin gets dry. And thanks to your watch, people know when to count down!

You are probably a fun person and already bought tickets for the best parties. Three of them. You wear sneakers because you're serious about dancing - but you are not serious enough to wear dark sneakers, you know how dirty a floor can get after midnight with all that confetti/alcohol/lametta. But you are prepared: In case you loose your fun lipgloss, you still got lipstick, in case you loose both, you drink a cosmo, they are pink too. I hope you don't like EDM, in that case, you would scare me.

if you read this, I am on a plane to Istanbul! What a start, what a year! I can only expect the best - this year will be full of changes and maybe you read that on every blog, but for me, some things are sure: I will not change myself and not loose weight and also I won't quit smoking ( I don't smoke anyway) Or plan to do anything differently from usual. Because I think thats bullshit, I don't settle changes on a single day, I discover mistakes everyday and a year is way too short to archive big goals. I want to work on myself everyday, I want to become stronger, not skinnier on a daily base and I want to improve myself as a person as a daily goal, not as a blurry one at the end of a year.
I don't want to be that person waking up in december, frustrated, realizing that I am where I was one year ago. I want to wake up tomorrow and realize that I learned more, did better, fell hard but got back on my feet again. I want to grow.

Mind: The Bucket List

everyone is talking about theirs, especially now, in january. It seems just natural to people to want to archive things. Mine are all long-term, unlimited and also not done, as soon as I´ve taken the first steps. I wanted to share my "bucket List" with you, consisting of a bit more than single experiences. Just things that are worth thinking about in my opinion. Feel free to share your opinion with me, tell me about your daily bucket list or just tell me about my spelling mistakes. I am always happy to read your comments!

1. Listen up
When did you last pulled of your headphones in public, to listen to the city, the people around you, strangers, kids laughers or barking of dogs? Its sometimes worth a lot to pay attention to the world that surrounds you.

2. share the little things
I don't talk about donating to every poor person who asks you. When you live in Berlin, you get asked for money at least 5 times per day - I sometimes just don't have the change. But what you always should have are tissues, lighters, bobby pins or security pins. You never know when you meet a mom in need for a clean tissue, struggling with her kids who needed all of them already ;)

3. quit poison
not a small goal in my opinion. I talk about bad sugars and milk. Cutting it a bit can really improve your health, even if quitting is a hard thing to do. But just try it! Use nut milks instead (very cheap when you make them yourself) and find out about your body.

4. enjoy the time
did you ever got up so early that you just didn't know what to do? Sometimes I wonder where the long breakfasts, the morning walks and all the time got, that I search for around 10 p.m. The time is way earlier, forgotten between the second alert and the wasted time with my smartphone in bed. Get up earlier, enjoy your time, forget the rush.

5. travel to conquer
how do you search for destinations? Reading travel guides or blogs? Guess what, someone has already been there, done that. How about consulting the experts: locals. They might tell you about an area you cannot find in a guide, which is yours only. You are not here to re-take a picture or re-write a story. You write your own story and you are free to go your own path. appreciate that.

6. reduce the weight
I don't talk about body issues, but about all the stuff in boxes we have. Once a year, you should be honest with yourself and rethink what you own. The fleamarkets are waiting for you.

Outfit: Grey Days

Its been raining for the past one million hours and I bought all the cookie dough a supermarket had to eat it purely. So much about eating less sugar. I feel powerless and overwhelmed by all the tasks that were literally waiting for me during the few days I took off. And even now I cannot say that I am relaxed. I do not only see the grayness in the skye, its also in my heart. After we left Istanbul, there was a bombing and nine people died. I feel powerless and scared, being back with the question "what if..." - what if we stayed 2 more days, or booked other planes or were there, too? We have to be here now, keep on working, see friends, family, as if there was nothing. Germany became a weird place while we in our absence did nothing but learning about another culture. Right now, its hard to put anything into words.

Besides the minimalistic Blouse. And the Shoes. Navy seems like a good alternative to black, which is, no doubt, an all time favorite. I have chosen to wear a navy coat instead of a black one this winter, just because I think that a little change cannot hurt and combining navy is just as easy as black! (listen to that creative person mixing navy with navy haha) I am layering my beloved culottes with a thermo leggings, so don't worry, I do still feel the cold and was literally dying during that shoot. Also, you might spot a piece of my thermo-turtleneck inlay. I will try stay warm, whatever it costs.
I had quite a tough week which endet up being a nice meet up with Elisa of schwarzersamt and  Anais of anaisanais. We all wore kinda monochrome stuff and the selfie turned out a pattern party. Looking at that picture I really have to smile because Elisa is so tall and I even didn't realize that when she was around. Do you know that feeling when you look at someone and you think you´re probably the same height as them and the picture turns out to be a snow-white and the dwarfs motive? I mean I am around 1,70m, which is not too short. However, Elisa is a great person, even if she's taller than you. And her Blog is definitely worth following!

BTW LEA ELISA WON! please send a mail to cruel thing-blog@web.de so I can send you the shoes (:

Oh my god, the fashion week is like so stressful and stuff...

Damn people, whats wrong with you? Does anybody force you to go to the fashionweek? Did they kidnap your cat and only return it when you visit every event and eat all the snacks and bring at least 10 goodie bags home?

No, they don't.

but thats what I think, when I read "The Fashionweek is such a pain in the ass" Texts by Bloggers. Even before the Fashionweek actually started. I know it can be tough to handle your full schedules or the attention seekers, if you're not one of them. It also can be tough to handle mean PR Ladies and disrespectful guests there. But at the end of the day, we are all part of those events, the so called fashion scene. So you are also empowered to make it better. When was the last time, you went over to that one girl from Bielefeld, standing there alone and awkward with her Vöslauer Water, talking to her, asking how she's doing?
See. You didn't do it. And that girl is still me, not attending anymore because the diagnosis says "too awkward for the fashion week"Ok, just kidding. I don't go there because I am simply not interested in runaway fashion. And also not interested in "being seen". I do love the offsite events, though! I love meeting "readers" and I love meeting people who´s Blogs I´ve been following for ages. (And they don't even know haha) And I do especially love those warm and caring people who just go over to the other girls, saying hi, welcome, how are you? I want to be like that, I want to give other people a good feeling when they are around. I don't want to complain about how terrible everybody is, when I simply can ignore them and move on to the cool kids. Be a cool kid.

Beauty: Hair Issues

I mean like, yeah, who has hair without issues? I am on the brink of everything: My Long Bob is not a long bob anymore, its a longer long bob now (wow, can I tell you even less important things?). And my roots are so far out of my head that I can literally go back to the roots and become a browny again. So - half Long bob, half blonde. But whats coming next? Last year I took the big step to get rid of my super long hair, ever since it reached my hips. I am happy about that but couldn't decide if I should grow it back now, or simply cut it off again. I enjoyed the playful shorter hair and also enjoyed blonde. And then you go on pinterest and scroll all those beautiful styles... haha. What is your favorite hairstyle? :)

Yes I did it again and fair enough, I realized that my hair has different levels of curly. I chopped it off, reckless how I am, while I didnt mind the fact that they made me look older. Not the great way of older like "you are legally allowed to purchase that beer" but the bad way of older like "aren't you too old to go out after 10 p.m.?" - either way, I will let my hair grow back but look behind with no agony - because its only hair. And I´ve chosen the bob site of life. We all make our own decisions, another fact why I translate texts from now on (scroll a bit, my german will surprise you).
About the Look: We are talking about a mild january, which made it possible to walk around in that COS Cape, made of soft wool and just is the best friend of the essential Grid Blouse. I can not put in words how much I adore that simple combination, that might seem boring but combines all my current favorites: A soft cape, a grid Blouse and perfect Leather Boots from Neosens. Having your Basic Favorites makes dressing up way easier, especially because the comfy feeling motivates me somehow. Next Step: Decluttering!

Fast.

Travel: Istanbul for Insiders (yeah, non - touristic)

Istanbul is one of those cities which I hardly can put in words. Its vibrant and at the same time its stuck somewhere between asian and european. It moves forward and backwards and ends up being the most mixed up city, I have ever visited. Its shaking and holding its feet together facing Erdogans political system. But there is a warm feeling of home for every visitor. The feeling of being able to ask everybody for help and the crazy way of loving live, despite all the struggles that are facing the arabic world. Only two days after we left, was a bombing in a touristic area. I feel ready now to show you how I have visited Istanbul with my boyfriend and will take you for a walk through the hidden Parts. Lets start:

1. We start our Day in Beyoglu, the western Area of Istanbul. We get a Pomme Granate Juice for 3 TL, which is less than one euro. We drink it, its so sweet that we get goosebumps - feels detox though.

2. We move up the Fatih Sultra street, in the direction of some turkish coffee shops. There are so many cats on the streets, they literally rule the city. It feels like we have a thousand pets and every one of them is cuddly and sweet. I wanted to touch all of them, but he is definitely the King: Cat Master.

3. From there, we recommend to get a cab (they are very cheap there, probably 1/3 of the German prices) to SantralIstanbul - where a wonderful private University awaits you. Its placed next to an old heat station - and its huge (and for free) we literally hung out there for hours, took pictures, explored the old techniques and watched kids discover the world of electricity. Downstairs, you can get Boza, a turkish beer - drink made with chickpeas and starch.

4. When you leave the Santral Istanbul, you cross the river in direction of Eyüp, walking close to the water in the beautiful modern Park. Watch the people feeding the Birds with yesterdays bread. Its breathtaking how many Birds come from all directions, collecting themselves in the air above the dry slices, flying in a secret system and landing on the surface. Keep on walking and you will see to your right the Pierre Loti with old grave yards and a beautiful view if you climb up. (or take the ropeway)

5. Finally arrived in Eyüp, take a cab again, because walking would take one hour. Drive down the river to Fener, one of the most authentic and beautiful Areas of Istanbul (my opinion). All those little streets and shops show you a wide variety of lifestyles and cultural edges. Between woman who do not cover their hair and complete burkas, you might spot tiny mosques, fresh foods and secret spaces. Definitely worth visiting!

Outfit: The fair shirt

As you know, I am very fast when it comes to trends. So, I finally own those hyped Ballerinas that flooded Instagram like one year ago. Thats how long it takes to make me like something (late majority moi) Btw, This is one of my holiday Looks - featuring my fair black shirt, made in Porto, Portugal. The german Brand FunktionSchnitt offers a great variety of basic t-shirts made of organic materials and produced  ethically. I am all about basics at the moment - I have this very same shirt in three different "colors", if you want to count black and white as ones, so it will be a bit boring to watch my outfit posts. I am already sorry about that, I am still figuring out the minimalist wardrobe (: I have found out that the pieces I love the most do all look the same, so I will follow that hint and stop shopping for a while. Also, I was on holidays so damnit, forget to be fashionable if you have to walk for the next 8 hours straightaway.

WIN WIN WIN: Henry London Watch

Ever since this Blog was originally made in spring 2009 (seven years ago) and because everyone is obsessed with pretty timepieces, I wanted to thank you guys for your constant following with the rose gold/purple watch by Henry London! Yes, its been seven years of more or less constant blogging - last year, I started to blog at least 2, 3 times a week and this year, it will be at least 4 times a week (lets see how long I can handle this) - However, let me quickly tell you about Henry London. I think there are plenty of watches on the market, looking all pretty much the same, more or less. The special thing about Henry London is the Personality:

This is the watch that will occupy your wrist, rule your armparty, tell you which day is on holidays when you´re so chilled, you even don't know if its sunday yet. It will just stay no matter how cold it is and add that little bit of color, suiting your lipstick or nail polish. How does that sound? Great? Fine! Just leave a comment under this picture on Instagram or here on the Blog, tell me how you would wear it. I will announce the Winner in my Outfitpost on the 8. of February

Easy Steps easy: Leave a Comment under That Picture on Instagram (Follow if you want, I swear I won't spam you) Or leave a comment in that Blogpost until the 7.2!

Outfit: Striped Shirt layering

lets have some real talk - ever since some specific bloggers appeared on my desktop, layering became a statement. How weird is that, people layer as soon as its getting colder anyway. And even if, for me there is and was only one true Inspiration: The Olsen Twins. It was my very first contact with inspiration when I saw the Olsen twins wearing boyfriend shirts in 2008, back then, when they were probably to closest thing to fashion bloggers (without even having a blog). I still can't stop drooling over their effortless chic, they make me crazy jealous!
But what I can do, is dress it down - because even if I had the olsens Wardrobe, I wouldn't be as creative as them, so I picked long shirts - A wonderful way to to layer or play around with knots. There are so many ways to combine and style them! At the moment, they are stuck as second of four layers, but as soon as its getting warmer, we will rock them with denim jackets and tie them around our waists - my favorite piece of clothing!
